A good fight becomes a dance

What Interests Me This Week

I've got me a fighting stick for a few weeks now. My skill has been steadily progressing, but not enough to be of challenge to anybody in the open market.

It's been somewhat of a routine for me go into training mode and listen to podcasts (on software, finance, general interests) at the same time. I suspect the absorption rate is superior to doing one thing at a time.

When learning is done right, layers of the Matrix peels away bit by bit. When I didn't know the game, any fight looks like two fighters randomly throwing punches. Now that I know what's going on, I can slowly see the strategizing that's happening within each second. A good fight becomes a dance.

This is true for any domain. Take Bitcoin: to the uninitiated, it's a magical imaginary asset that's unlike anything ever in history, it borders on being a scam. To my eyes though, I've known it long and deep enough that it has become a low-risk boring asset that is gradually losing my interest in being a substantial hold in the long run.

Music as well. I'm sure had I been able to play an instrument, I would've had a much better appreciation of a piece than being a passive consumer of music.
