The Lazy Left Eye
I have this tendency to find a deficiency to work on from time to time.
I've had this lazy eye that robs me of depth perception and possibly lack of three dimensionality in VR. It's miraculous that I can manage badminton at all with this.
This time I do that by having my right eye patched up for up to 12 hours per day. It's not a perfect solution but the left eye needs some kick in the ass to get working again.
By using only the left eye exclusively means having the right brain operate full time. The cognitive effect is rather interesting, it felt like writing with the non-dominant hand except it applies to thinking. I consciously know I have the mental models available but wielding it felt clumsy.
There is also the interesting quality of easily falling into contemplative paralysis when operating with only the left eye. It's like falling into a arabbit hole of abtract thought that has no pay off; I'm rather sure this is unique to me. This was probably what prompted me to unconsciously decommission the left eye decades ago so it wouldn't get into the way me of being effective.
I'm not certain this project will see fruition because the transitional period sucks big time. Having both eyes work together is creating visual dissonance that's not easy to get past.
But I want to believe doing this will unlock a part of the brain that's previously unavailable to me.
